I hope I did not come across as getting after you; that was by no means my
intention; I wanted to just inform people that sources are very important
when doing genealogy or family history; (whichever you prefer) and
particular attention needs to be given to where the original information is
coming from. On a different note, one should always go and look at the film;
there is often additional information that can help in the investigation. So
please forgive me if I was mean in any way again, it was not my intention.
As far as the records for Portezuelo, Jalisco go, I will look into it later
today and post an answer either tonight or tomorrow morning. I work a late
schedule every Wednesday, sorry! What time period are you interested in?

Hi Esther, its Daniel Mendez! Well I found this (below) not

sure if you have it. We are dealing with Portozuelo,

this might be a bit of a task considering in Los Altos

there was much changes in borders, new cities being created

ownership of land changing. Well Portuzulo is near other

major towns in Los Altos; all whom were customed to travel

to those places and back.

I call: Tepatitlan, La Barca and Ayo el Chico (Ayotlan) and Ocotlan.

It will be common to see people from all this places travel back and

forth; even San Miguel el Alto a bit further north. Have you checked

this other places? I did find Vicente's and Dolores' Marriage.

Yup, the marriage should lead you into the late 1700s! Which is good

possible more matches in IGI as one gets older in their tree; especially

in Los Altos where most families if not all have been researched

Esther, I greet you and send you a big hug. I think I can give you some tips about Portezuelo. First, i want to tell you that I visited several times Portezuelo several years ago because I had a friend who was born next town (town´s name is El Tarengo in ancient time and actually it is named Villa Garcia de Marquez). On that time when I visited his family there with him we were doing genealogical research for his family and I visited several places arround. What I can tell you about Portezuelo is that indeed they have principaly civil records, most of it´s church records are in La Barca precisely. The usage of the people in that region in anceint times was the following: the familyis went either to La Barca or to Atotonilco el Alto. In those 2 places you will find the christening registers for most of the families from Portezuelo. There are several town arround named: Milpillas, Margaritas, Sta. Rita, El Tarengo and others that I do not recall now.
