Hello Nuestros Ranchos Forum,

I'm trying to see if anyone has any information on capitan Melchor de
Richarte and María Tomasa de Guzmán y Prado. They both would've been born
probably in the 1680s. and they were married Jan 20th 1723. Their marriage
record and informacion matrimonial both do not name the parents. Does
anyone know anything about them?

Danny C. Alonso

Hi Danny, I emailed you about Melchor just now. He is on my family tree. There are a few records relating to Melchor, but he is a bit of a mystery. Not much is known of his origins. I believe that the Aguascalientes City records have a document indicating he engaged in slave trading. There is also a marriage dispensation as I recall, but it did not shed light on his parents or origins. Some undocumented genealogies on have him coming from the Pais Valenciano in Spain, but I’ve seen no hard evidence of that.

My Great Grandmother was a Richarte (Ricarte). Melchor de Richarte is also my ancestor. I can not find any records of his parent's names nor can I find any of his children's "abuelos" names either. I also saw that some people on Ancestry have him coming from Spain, but I have yet to find any evidence as well. What records in Aguascalientes did you see that he was a slave trader? I noticed they also have him as Capitan Melchor de Richarte in a record.
