Hello Nuestros Ranchos Forum,

Im looking for the parents of my ancestors Juan Colunga an Isabel Mendez
probly from Valle de San Francisco, San Luis Potosí where their children
married. i think they were born around 1680 or maybe a little earlier. im
hoping someone else in the group descends from them or has information on
them. thank you

Danny C. Alonso

Thank you Daniel. These are my 6th g-grandparents! I wasn't able to connect them to SLP until I read your message.

I descend from their daughter Maria Trinidad Chavez married to Lucas Ylario Yanes in Teocaltiche 05 May 1783.

Marcelina,

Angelina,

We are related then on a closer level. I descend from Da. Juana Manuela de Chávez Fragoso y Colunga who married D. Luciano Yáñez de Esqueda y Zavala on 31 May 1767 in Teocaltiche. I was not aware of the existence of Trinidad Chávez married to Lucas Hilario Yáñez, perhaps we have two siblings marrying two siblings?

Daniel

Hola Daniel:

Saludos

Marcelina

Danny,

In case you don't have Francisco's baptism record:

Francisco de Colunga y Méndez baptized on 14 Oct 1682 in Charcas, SLP who married Agustina Robledo de Rutiaga. If I remember correctly these are your ancestors? Francisco Colunga was a younger brother to my ancestor, José who would have been baptized in 1681.

Daniel Méndez de Torres y Camino

Thanks Daniel, I really appreciate it. I was curious I remember you mentioning that the Colunga Cortes descend from hernan Cortes. Do you know how they connect to Cortes?

Hi,
I'm also following the line of Juan de Colunga and Isabel Mendez. I was reading the whole explanation about 2 juan's de colunga. I looked at the marriage of Juan de Colunga and Josepha Gonzalez on feb 3, 1668 in aguascalientes. The marriage says that both were "indios". I'm assuming that THIS juan de Colunga was someone that "worked" with the father or lived in the household and adopted the last name.
In the census of Aguascalientes in 1648 there is just (1) juan de Colunga (nino) living with his parents Juan de Colunga cortes and Graviela de Anso y telles su mujer.
I'm assuming that Juan de Colunga (nino) later married Isabel Mendez (I haven't found the marriage)
Also I noticed that Gabriela de Anso left a will. Does anyone have her will?
Thanks
