Hi, I'm new to the group and hope that someone can tell me where else to look for the marriage record of Rafael Luna and Maria del Refugio. They were supposedly married on 8 July 1839 at Ahualulco de Mercado, Jalisco, however that particular year is missing from the parish registers on FamilySearch. I checked through some years before as well as some years following that date. I also checked the Información matrimonial records twice but couldn't find anything for this couple. I'm new to research in Mexico and would appreciate any advice on where to look next.

I mistakenly put the wrong town for where the marriage of Rafael Luna and Maria del Refugio Gomez took place. It was at El Sagrario, Autlan de Navarro, Jalisco, Mexico, on 8 July 1839. I have checked the parish registers (on FamilySearch) and the Información matrimonial.

Hi Denise,

Did you try starting the Info Matrimonial at least 2 months before the date of the wedding? I have often even found information as early as 6 months before the wedding took place. And if there was the need for a Dispensa (special permission to marry issued by the Bishop) the couple had to apply to Guadalajara and it sometimes took some time.

There are a couple of sites with dispensa information. Just google for guadalajara dispensas. One is coordinated by Claudia Casillas, the other by Kathy Brecht Quesada.

Hope this helps!

Thank you, Sergio. I did look in the Info Matrimonial and went back a full year from the date of the marriage. Thank you for suggesting the dispensa information sites. I'll be looking at them next.
