i have been checking out ordnes collection since i'm not sure hwat they are found this for some guy named lorenzo carrillo davila.

what is this doucment about?

The clergyman Lorenzo Carrillo Dávila is stating the names of his parents and uncle, and says that the latter founded a capellanía and named him (Lorenzo) as first capellán (chaplain). He wants to be ordained as sub-deacon in order to take over the Capellanía.

As I understand it, a capellanía was an inheritance that somehow could produce money (like a shop, a place that could be rented, etc.) and such money would be used to pay masses on behalf of the founder, and to sustain the capellán, usually a clergyman related to the founder. It was a trust and the capellán was the beneficiary.

Regards,
Victoriano Navarro

thanks for explaining what a Capellanía is.
